Welcome to the New Year! We are gearing up for one of the busiest season we’ve had in a long time. With the Olympics on the horizon and so many talented American racers coming into their own USA Cycling is going full throttle.
On the team operations side of things we are looking for a few great people to work with our teams in Europe as mechanics this coming season. We are seeking a mechanic for our U23 program based in Belgium and our Women’s program that is based in Italy. These are season long obligations with a few breaks here and there. Additionally we are looking for mechanics to work on a few shorter (2 to 4 week) trips with the U23 and Junior programs. These trips short or season long will take you all around Europe.
Brief outline of the program dates:
U23 season mechanic – March through June and July through September
Women’s season mechanic – March through April, 2 weeks in May, July through September
Shorter trips vary but the bulk of these are in the summer when we are running multiple programs and larger races where we will need a 2nd mechanic.
The mechanic opportunities with USA Cycling are contract based; we cover meals, transportation, housing and pay based on experience. A qualified individual will possess a current USA Cycling mechanics license, own their own tools, be able to drive a manual transmission, have a valid passport (that can’t expire within 60days of the end of the trip), be able to pass a background check. As a mechanic working with USA Cycling road teams you should have a comfortable understanding of road and time trial bikes and familiarity with various component groups.
If you would like more info or would like to submit a resume for consideration please email James Stanfill (jstanfill@usacycling.org).
